Although it’s not a common practice to have a service dog for a dog, this pair of father and son beg to differ. This pair from New Jersey have a bond that leaves many people shocked. They are as close as a human and their service dog.

Buddy is a two-year-old blind boxer mix who depends upon his father, Big Daddy, a four-year-old mixed breed. Together, they explore the world and go through everything.

A handler at the Associated Humane Society (AHS) Popcorn Park Shelter, Lacey Township, New Jersey, Sandy Hickman, said, “Every minute or two, he just wants to know where Big Daddy is, and he’ll bump into him or he’ll sniff for him and make sure that he’s still there.”

Buddy and Big Daddy were only recently relocated to New Jersey, where they had arrived in early June. Both of them came from a North Carolina shelter that was looking forward to placing the two pooches in a forever home together. And with the help of Flying Fur Animal Rescue, they took their first flight to Associated Humane Popcorn Park Shelter in a private plane, which was being flown by Paul Steklenski.

These will be adopted together since it’s obvious that they are inseparable. A handler from the AHS shelter, Tiffany Zinky, said, “Being a pair, a bonded pair, it was harder for them to get adopted so we had the room to take them.”

There is no one who could take better care of Buddy than Big Daddy. The AHS noted on their Facebook page: “The pair are adorable together and Big Daddy has such patience with his son, who occasionally crashes into him and knocks him over.”

They also said on their website: “They are both such sweet, well-behaved boys that love people of all ages and get along fine with other dogs too. They are now looking for a home where they can stay together forever and have a good family of their own to love and care for them.”

Such an adorable dad-and-son duo!
